According to the US Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), over 45,000 people died of gun-related injuries in 2020 alone. Two years later, one pregnant woman's name became an addition to the developing list for 2022.
In April of 2022, a woman named Tamara Cornelius was found lying in a gas station parking lot in Pennsylvania. The 38-year-old woman had been shot multiple times. According to an article by The Real, Cornelius had just finished eating with her ex-boyfriend at The Cheesecake Factory before her death.
Thompson allegedly followed Cornelius to the gas station and approached her at one of the gasoline pumps. The county police claimed later that Thompson allegedly shot her multiple times as she attempted to make her escape.
DA Kevin R. Steele comments, "This was a chilling murder of a young woman and her unborn child. We will be filing an additional homicide charge against the defendant—Murder of an Unborn Child." Cornelius and her unborn baby both lost their lies that evening, leaving her three other children motherless.
