Decorated artist Ashanti has been in the music industry for over twenty years. The artist got her start as a teenager back in 2002 and made history with her self-titled album. On this album, the song 'Foolish' stands out as Ashanti's greatest hit.
The singer-songwriter comments on her first record's success by saying in an interview: "Me being just a young girl from Long Island in SoHo writing records in the studio with a bunch of rappers, I never knew that this was going to be the end result." The self-titled album is ranked by Billboard as number 100 of its Top 200 Albums of the Decade.
Possible the most significant achievement of Ashanti's first album is its triple-platinum certification by the RIAA. Now, Ashanti has plans to rerecord this album in 2022. She comments, "It makes the most sense after being in the game for 20 years and having the rights to be able to go back and rerecord my first album."
Ashanti feels a sentimental bond to her earliest work, however, as she states, "I don’t want to stray too far because I’m really proud of what we created, but I’m excited about it." Many of the artist's fans look forward to listening to her updated work in the future.
